Additional Ingredient Information:
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea):
Echinacea (see Echinaforce's information sheet) is known for its effect on the immune system. In this formula, it is used to increase the immune system`s response and improve the body's defense mechanisms.
The German Commission E acknowledges its benefits in cases of: chronic infections of the lower urinary tract.
Uva Ursi (Arctostaphylos uva ursi):
Uva Ursi (also known as Bearberry) acts as an anti-inflammatory for the urinary tract and as a mild diuretic. It also has the reputation of dissolving kidney stones (litholytic). This effect has been demonstrated in vivo.(1) Uva Ursi's active ingredients are arbutine, methylarbutine, hydroquinones, flavonoids and tannins. Arbutine and hydroquinones have proven urinary antiseptic properties. Uva Ursi is effective against many of the bacteria responsible for urinary infections.(2)
The German Commission E acknowledges its benefits in cases of: inflammatory disorders of the efferent urinary tract.
Sweet Sumach (Rhus aromatica):
Sweet Sumach, a source of tannins, has astringent properties and is therefore useful to tone up the pelvic area. It is traditionally used for urinary incontinence, enuresis, kidney and bladder problems and certain types of uterine hemorrhages.
St. John`s Wort (Hypericum perforatum):
Although today`s science focuses mainly on its antidepressant effect, St-John`s Wort has numerous other properties. Scientific literature has demonstrated antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, astringent and vulnerary effects, all of which are put to good use in Cystoforce.(3)
The German Commission E acknowledges its benefits in cases of: psychovegetative disturbances.
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium):
Yarrow has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, hemostatic, antispasmodic and antimicrobial properties that have now been demonstrated in vivo and in vitro.(4)
The German Commission E acknowledges its benefits in cases of: spastic discomforts of the gastrointestinal and urinary tract.
Flowering Oats (Avena sativa):

Aspen (bark and leaf) is listed in the unapproved herbs section in the German Commission E for: nervous bladder and atony of the bladder sphincter.
Belladonna (Atropa belladonna):
