Feature Summary
Tea tree oil is an effective herbal antiseptic for the relief of minor skin ailments and abrasions. It is commonly used topically for skin infections such as acne, lice, scabies, athlete`s foot, nail fungus, and ringworm. It is also effective as a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, burns, insect bites and stings, boils, vaginal infections, and recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores).
Tea tree essential oil has antiseptic properties, meaning it is able to destroy bacteria that cause infections. It is also an antimicrobial, able to destroy or prevent the growth of microbes, including bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Tea tree oil`s affect on bacteria and other microbes is similar to that of chemical disinfectants by damaging the cell membrane, disrupting the proteins within, then rendering them inactive and unable to proliferate and cause disease.
Often called a "First Aid Kit in a Bottle" tea tree oil is as useful as it is versatile.
