Zinc Chamomile Cream is our premium ointment for non-specific dermatitis and serious skin inflammations and rashes. This formula has proven highly effective for treating diaper rash. The following is a brief explanation of the individual ingredients and the rationale for their use: Chamomile: Chamomile is used extensively for its anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It is a proven protectant of the skin, shielding it from UV damage, and has notable antioxidant properties, which relate to the treatment of inflammation. Statistically significant diminishment of wound area as well as a drying tendency in weeping wounds has been observed in clinical trials. Erythema (redness) and moist desquamation, side effects of radiation therapy, have been successfully treated with chamomile cream. Elder: Herbalist Michael Tierra notes that, "elder flowers are... used in salves for the treatment of burns, rashes, minor skin ailments and to diminish wrinkles." Calendula: David Hoffman remarks that this valuable herb, our best vulnerary, "is also of benefit for slow-healing wounds and skin ulcers, and ideal for first-aid treatment of minor burns and scalds." Comfrey: With its abundant amounts of allantoin and mucilage, this prime vulnerary herb promotes the growth of new cells and has recognized healing properties for skin wounds and irritations. It is also a mild analgesic. Zinc oxide: A naturally occurring compound used on the skin as an antioxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory to help cleanse and repair epithelial cells. Vitamin E: An antioxidant, helping to stabilize and repair cell membranes while reducing oedema and erythema. Essential Oil of French Lavender: Traditionally used to treat skin conditions as well as sores, bruises, varicose ulcers, burns and scalds Ester C: Used on the skin to promote collagen synthesis and improve inflammatory conditions. It also protects skin cells from UV-induced damage and is a stimulant to wound healing. Aloe vera: Moisturizing and emollient, aloe vera contributes antibacterial, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory qualities to the cream. Myrrh: Traditionally employed for wounds and abrasions and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Essential Oil of German Chamomile: Traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory for skin conditions. Administration:
Apply as needed. Contra-indications and Cautions: For external use only. Do not use longer than 4-6 weeks. Do not use on open wounds or broken skin or near eyes. An excellent product.
I was driving home in rush hour and got stuck in traffic. My hands were very dry from working with paper all day so I put some hand lotion on that I always carry with me. (It is a high-end brand name.) I had some excess on my hands and put it on my face. Within a few hours, my face broke out and I had a bad rash all over. I put some Zinc Chamomile Cream on my face, that my Mom had given me, and within 48 hours, the rash was completely gone. I now use Zinc Chamomile Cream for all my dry skin and rashes.
